I have taken so many photographs of Helen Mirren over an enduring friendship of forty years that it’s been difficult to choose one. But then, Helen always was a ‘woman of infinite variety’ as one of her greatest roles, Cleopatra, so aptly portrayed. She is both a magnificent actress and a loyal and generous friend. This photograph reminds me of a very happy time in both our lives when we shared a house in Hollywood. She was working on ‘White Nights’ directed by Taylor Hackford who later became her husband. Helen loved this red Mustang. She said it made her feel like “a real star” driving through the gates of Paramount!
